Over 60 lakh hectares of farms hit by rains, have sought reduction from Centre, says Fadnavis

Around 60 lakh hectares of farmland have been affected by heavy rains and floods, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mentioned on Tuesday, including that the State authorities has approached the Centre looking for a reduction package deal.

The CM added that the ultimate reduction coverage could be declared after the following Cabinet assembly. Rejecting the Opposition’s demand to declare a “moist drought” in Maharashtra, Mr. Fadnavis mentioned such a time period doesn’t exist formally.

“The harm evaluation will probably be executed over the following few days. Till then, the State will present the help and disburse the funds earlier than Deepavali. The quantity obtained from the Centre will probably be used as reimbursement,” he mentioned.

Regarding the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s push for the announcement of a moist drought, Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne remarked, “What distinction does it make whether or not you name it a drought or a moist drought? We are offering reduction to farmers as per drought provisions. Loan restoration received’t be executed. Electricity fees received’t be levied. School charges will probably be waived.”

NCP (SP) chief Supriya Sule demanded a immediate and full mortgage waiver for farmers. Congress chief Vijay Wadettiwar accused the federal government of delay in submitting a reduction proposal to the Centre.
