In an announcement on X, the #San Antonio Police stated: “Despite online claims of this being a hate crime, currently the investigation has found no evidence to indicate that Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation.”

“SAPD investigators handle these allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information,” the police division added. It additional stated that the suspect shall be charged if any new proof emerges.

Joss’s husband issued an announcement hours earlier asserting that the taking pictures over the weekend was clearly motivated by homophobia.

In the aftermath of the taking pictures, Joss’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, shared an announcement on the actor’s #Facebook web page asserting that the tragic incident was a homophobic hate crime.

Gonzales and Joss have been in search of the mail on the their former residence, which was destroyed by a fireplace in January.

“When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw,” Gonzales wrote in a FB submit.

According to Gonzales, a person then turned to the 2 and “started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.”

Gonzales additional stated that he and Jonathan weren’t carrying weapons and so they weren’t threatening anybody. “We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.”

Gonzales said that he and Joss have been routinely harassed by individuals who made it evident that they didn’t approve their relationship. “Much of the harassment was openly homophobic,” he stated.
