Air Indias San Francisco-Mumbai flight grounded in Kolkata after engine snag

The Boeing 777-200 LR plane developed a snag in its left engine after passengers boarded the flight and the passengers have been requested to deplane

Kolkata: An Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai needed to be grounded on the NSCBI airport in Kolkata within the early hours of Tuesday and passengers needed to be deboarded after the plane developed engine snag, officers mentioned.

The captain of the airplane instructed the passengers that the choice to floor the plane was made within the curiosity of flight security. (PTI)

“Flight AI 180, which had arrived from San Francisco at the Kolkata airport around 12:47, was scheduled to leave for Mumbai at 2:00 am. There were 224 passengers on board,” mentioned an airport official.

The Boeing 777-200 LR plane, nevertheless, developed a snag in its left engine after passengers boarded the flight and was declared Aircraft on Ground (AOG), that means the plane was grounded as a result of technical issues.

Around 5:20 am, an announcement was made within the plane asking all passengers to deplane.

The passengers have been deboarded and despatched to 2 motels. All 224 passengers got breakfast, and, in accordance with their preferences, some have been transferred to motels, whereas others have been accommodated on various flights to Mumbai.
