Odisha CM condemns Gopalpur gangrape case, says accused will not be spared

Following the Chief Minister’s directive, the police have swiftly arrested 10 people in reference to the case. The Chief Minister has instructed the police to apprehend all suspects at once and make sure that all these straight or not directly concerned within the crime are delivered to justice, the CMO added. In a surprising incident, a 20-year-old faculty pupil was gang-raped by a gaggle of males at Gopalpur seaside in Odisha’s Ganjam district. They had tied her male pal, police stated on Tuesday. The police have nabbed all 10 individuals – six adults and 4 juveniles – in reference to the gang rape, Superintendent of Police, Berhampur, Sravana Vivek M stated. According to the Berhampur SP, the horrific incident occurred on the Gopalpur seaside in Ganjam metropolis, the place the 20-year-old-college pupil from Berhampur was out together with her male pal on Monday night. Three of the accused allegedly raped the girl whereas others saved watch on her male pal, the police stated “On Sunday evening, 20-year-old woman, along with her 20-year-old friend, who were classmate in a 3 college in Behrampur, had been to Gopalpur beach. In the evening around 6:30 pm they were sitting in a secluded area. At the same time there were around 10 youths from a different police station area of the same district were sitting there. Around 8 pm, they overpowered the boy and the girl and they took them to another place around 50 metres away where three person raped her. The others were keeping a watch on the male friend,” Berhampur SP Sravana Vivek M stated. The police instantly launched an investigation after the woman and her male pal registered a police complain on the police station after 10 pm. According to the Berhampur SP, the police have arrested the six adults and produced the 4 minor earlier than the Juvenile Justice Board. Police will ship pleas to the board, to deal with the minors as adults as all of them are 17-years-old. “After 10 pm, the girl and boy came to the police station. As soon as the police reported the incident, they formed a team and seven suspects were detained for questioning. The rest of three accused were also detained. All 10 accused – six adults and four minors – the adults have been arrested the minors have been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Pleas will be sent to the Juvenile Justice Board to treat minors as adults as they are above 16. They all are 17 years old,” he added. Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, expressing shock over the incident, demanded strict motion towards the perpetrator. “The information of the gang-rape at Gopalpur seaside, a significant vacationer vacation spot in Odisha, is deeply surprising and has left everybody shaken. It is strongly condemned. The security of girls in vacationer locations has been questioned. The authorities needs to be vigilant in stopping the rising atrocities towards ladies daily. The authorities ought to take strict steps to make sure the protection and safety of girls within the state, Patnaik wrote on X.
