Woman taken into custody at Kothamangalam in Kerala after 38-year-old man dies of suspected poisoning

A 38-year-old man, a local of Mathirappilly close to Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district of Kerala, died right here on Thursday following suspected poisoning.

The police have taken a girl into custody from her residence at Chelad, close to Kothamangalam. A case has been registered in opposition to her underneath Section 109 (try and homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

According to the police, the person, recognized as Ansil, was reportedly in a relationship with the lady for a while. She had allegedly filed a number of complaints in opposition to him for alleged sexual and bodily assault earlier.

She allegedly invited him to her home on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) evening. The accused had allegedly served him poison with the intention of killing him.

He was taken to a non-public hospital at Aluva round 4.30 a.m on July 30 after he had developed uneasiness and vomiting. He had reportedly advised his relative that the lady had allegedly “betrayed” him.

The hospital authorities stated he died round 7.45 p.m on Thursday.

The police stated the postmortem examination can be held on the Government Medical College Hospital, Ernakulam to establish the precise reason for dying.

The police suspect that their relationship had turned bitter of late. The arrest of the accused shall be formally recorded as soon as the post-mortem confirms the reason for dying, they stated.
