Four juveniles held for assaulting Maharashtra youth in Tamil Nadus Tiruvallur

Four 17-year-old boys have been arrested in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu on charges of brutally attacking a youth from Maharashtra with a sickle and creating social media reels of the assault. The assailants were allegedly intoxicated.

The incident occurred on Friday (December 26, 2025) evening near the railway quarters close to the Tiruttani railway station. Acting on an alert from the public, the police rushed to the spot and rescued the victim, who had sustained severe cut injuries. He was initially admitted to a government hospital for first aid and later shifted by ambulance to the Tiruvallur Government Hospital for further treatment. He was identified as Suraj, 34, from Kolhapur district in Maharashtra.

The Tiruttani police registered a case and launched an investigation, examining footage from surveillance cameras installed near the railway station. During the probe, the police also verified a video clip in which four youths were seen holding a knife to the victim’s neck and issuing threats, on a train bound for Tiruttani.

Investigations revealed that the four juveniles, all from Nemili near Tiruttani, were intoxicated. They held a knife to the victim’s neck on the train, recorded a video, and later took him to a seculded spot near the railway quaters and attacked him with “murderous intent” when he resisted. The accused filmed the assault and uploaded the videos on social media platforms, including Instagram, in an attempt to make them go viral.

The incident has triggered shock and outrage among local residents, railway passengers, and politicians. All four juveniles have been nabbed, and further investigation is under way, police sources said.
