Man arrested for assaulting IT worker and feminine colleague from one other religion in Hyderabad

A 24-year-old bike-taxi rider was arrested by Saifabad police for assaulting a person and a girl close to the Ambedkar statue on NTR Marg in Hyderabad and circulating a video of the incident on social media in a way meant to impress communal hatred.

The incident occurred at round 3.45 a.m. on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) when the accused, Mohammed Raheel, intercepted an IT worker and his 24-year-old feminine colleague from a unique group as they had been heading residence.

DCP (Central) Okay. Shilpavalli stated that Raheel approached them on his two-wheeler, started filming with out their consent, and questioned the lady about being with a person from a unique faith.

“He used abusive language, issued threats, assaulted each people, and threw a helmet on the man in an try and injure him. The victims fled the scene on their bike, however Raheel adopted them and continued recording till they reached the Himayatnagar space,” stated the DCP.

On July 30, the person lodged a criticism with Saifabad police station and a case was booked beneath sections 196, 74, 79, 352, 115 (1), 126 (2), 131, and 351(3) of the BNS Act and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.

The video, which was later posted on Instagram and X, attracted consideration and sparked communal commentary, placing the protection of the victims and their households in danger. The DCP stated that the video uncovered their identities, violated their privateness, and will result in regulation and order points.

Raheel was traced utilizing CCTV footage and apprehended close to Charminar. During questioning, he confessed to the offence. His cell phone and two-wheeler had been seized.

“No one has the fitting to ethical police others or harass individuals for his or her private decisions beneath the guise of faith or ideology. This was not only a privateness violation however a deliberate act to stir communal sentiments,” stated the officer.
