Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC Okay. Kavitha has launched a 72 hour starvation strike at Dharna Chowk close to Indira Park in Hyderabad on Monday (August 4, 2025) demanding 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BC) communities. The protest is designed to provide 40 of roughly 112 BC communities an opportunity to place forth their issues. She mentioned that they won’t drink water or eat meals for 72 hours.

Stating that Telangana Jagruthi all the time caught to the timings of protest fastened by the federal government, Ms. Kavitha appealed to the federal government to provide permission for the starvation strike to be held for 72-hours. “If you deny this and take us to the police station or hospital or houses, we are going to stage the strike there,” she mentioned.

Ms. Kavitha who has been actively holding programmes and talking about varied points from the previous few months, has been demanding reservations for BCs.  

Speaking on the event, she mentioned that the Congress authorities has to face by Kamareddy declaration and 42% reservation must be given to BCs within the impending native physique elections. “This is a combat for self-respect, following Gandhian rules,” she mentioned.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders and cadre have left in a particular prepare to Delhi on Monday, to take part in a dharna looking for assent of President to the payments — handed by the Telangana legislature — looking for the 42% reservations.
