Adequate fertilizers available in all districts, says A.P. Markfed director

Adequate fertilizers are available in all the districts, as AP Markfed has taken special care to ensure sufficient quantity of supplies to farmers in the State, said Andhra Pradesh State Co-operative Marketing Federation Limited (A.P. Markfed) Director Anepu Ramakrishna Naidu on Friday (26 December, 2025).

He said that there is no shortage of fertilizers in the State, contrary to what the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has projected, and urged the opposition party to visit Rythu Seva Kendras and Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies to see the stocks maintained to meet farmers’ requirements during the Kharif and Rabi seasons.

Mr. Ramakrishna, who attended the 13th general body meeting of the Markfed held recently in Vijayawada, spoke to The Hindu here about the government’s initiatives to meet the expectations of the farmers. “Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu increased the budget from ₹40 crore to ₹85 crore this year to ensure that Markfed stocks fertilizers adequately and to prevent private dealers from fleecing farmers with higher rates,” he said.

He said that the Markfed has been handling around 3,000 tonnes of DAP, 500 tonnes of MOP and one lakh tonnes of Urea in 2025-26 with an aim to meet the requirements of the farmers in both the seasons. The government has given the responsibility to Markfed to take up market intervention activities to enable farmers to get remunerative prices for their produce during Rabi season also. The Markfed fixed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all products including green gram, black gram, sorghum , pearl millet, finger millet and others.

“Markfed has been getting timely support from National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited and National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited. Their support is also crucial for Markfed to meet its financial requirements.” Mr. Ramakrishna added.
