Bihar govt units up board to guard transgender neighborhood’s rights

The Bihar authorities has constituted a welfare board to guard the rights of the transgender neighborhood and take measures for his or her social growth and empowerment, an official mentioned on Friday (August 8, 2025).

A notification for the structure of the‘Bihar Rajya Kinnar Kalyan Board’ was issued by the Social Welfare Department, she mentioned.

Bihar Social Welfare Minister Madan Sahni has been made the chairman of the 28-member panel, the official mentioned.

“The division has constituted the ‘Bihar Rajya Kinnar Kalyan Board’ to guard the rights of the transgender neighborhood and take measures for his or her social growth and empowerment. The board has seven members belonging to the transgender neighborhood,” Social Welfare Department Secretary Bandana Preyashi instructed PTI.

The measures for the social growth of the transgender neighborhood can be applied and monitored by the board, she mentioned.

The state authorities additionally needs to supply them schooling and vocational coaching to arrange them for respectable and common employment, mentioned Preyashi, including, “it will also allow them to enhance their socio-economic status”.

“The government is trying to provide them an atmosphere where they feel protected and live a respectful life like any other citizen in the country,” she added.
