A.P. State Commissioner, Handloom and Textiles, Rekha Rani handing over certificates to weavers at a programme organised at Weavers Service Centre in Vijayawada on Thursday.
After inaugurating National Handloom Day-2025 celebrations at Weavers Service Centre, Vijayawada, Ms. Rekha Rani mentioned it was an event “to rejoice our wealthy weaving traditions, which showcase the creativity of our folks.”
Besides Vijayawada, the Weavers’ Service Centre additionally organised 5 different programmes at Pedana handloom pocket in Krishna district, Mangalagiri in Guntur district, Venkatagiri in Tirupati district, Muramanda in East Godavari district and Isukapalli in Bapatla district, with weavers from the close by clusters attending them.
As a part of the celebration, a stay telecast of the National Handloom Day celebrations in New Delhi was organized. This 12 months, three individuals from Andhra Pradesh have been chosen for awards in recognition of their expertise. They embrace Lakka Srinivasulu from Venkatagiri, chosen for Sant Kabir Award, and Karnati Murali from Palnadu and Jujare Nagaraju from Dharmavaram.
