Kerala BJP chief booked for loss of life risk comment in opposition to Rahul Gandhi

The Kerala Police on Monday (September 29, 2025) registered a case in opposition to BJP chief Printu Mahadevan for his alleged comment throughout a tv debate that bullets can be fired on the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, officers mentioned.

The case was filed by the Peramangalam police in Thrissur based mostly on a grievance from Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) secretary Sreekumar C.C.

Mr. Mahadevan, a former ABVP chief, made the remarks, whereas discussing protests in Bangladesh and Nepal, throughout a debate on a Malayalam information channel on September 26, 2025.

Congress protests

Following the feedback, Congress employees staged protests in opposition to Mr. Mahadevan and the BJP throughout Kerala on Monday.

AICC normal secretary Okay.C. Venugopal on Sunday wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling the risk “not only a careless outburst of a petty functionary.” He warned that “any failure to behave swiftly, decisively, and publicly can be seen as complicity.”

“The nation demands immediate, exemplary legal action through She state police so that justice is swift, visible, and severe,” he mentioned.

Senior Congress leaders, together with MP Shafi Parambil and Ramesh Chennithala, additionally condemned Mr. Mahadevan’s remarks and urged police motion.
