Market opening bell: Sensex tanks 487 factors, Nifty 150 factors day after US strikes Iran

Infosys, HCL Tech, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finance, and TCS led early losses, whereas Bharat Electronics and Bharti Airtel had been the one gainers in early commerce.

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined in early commerce on Monday, June 23, day after the US attacked three nuclear websites in Iran, elevating issues over escalating battle within the Middle East.

The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 487 factors to 81,920 in early commerce. The 50-share NSE Nifty dropped 150 factors to 24,914.95.

Infosys, HCL Tech, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finance, and TCS led early losses, whereas Bharat Electronics and Bharti Airtel had been the one gainers in morning commerce.

The IT shares had been the worst hit because the shares witnessed a fall as much as 2.5% within the early hours on Monday.

The IT losses had been led by Coforge Ltd (-0.47%), TCS (-1.08%), Infosys (-2.05%) and HCL Technologies (-1.31%).

Meanwhile, the Indian Rupee fell 20 paise to 86.75 in opposition to US greenback within the early commerce.

The Asian markets, in the meantime, plunged on Monday, whereas the US inventory market closed in pink following the US’ strike on Iran.

On Friday, the Indian benchmark indices had snapped a three-day shedding streak, rising over 1%, largely on account of US President Donald Trump’s resolution to delay motion in Israel’s offensive in opposition to Iran.
