The development comes as a result of efforts by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Mysuru MP, who had repeatedly taken up the issue with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) chief engineer Umashankar and other officials.
The process for starting the work began on January 20, following the issuance of an official order by the NHAI.
In a press release, the MP said the flyover at Kempegowda Circle (Manipal Hospital Junction) was approved after continuous representations and meetings with NHAI officials, responding to public demand.
He said the flyover will help reduce accidents, ease traffic congestion, cut travel time, and ensure smoother entry and exit to and from Mysuru.
According to the MP, the order initiating the work process has been issued by Mr. Umashankar, who was convinced of the project’s necessity after being apprised of traffic and safety concerns at the junction.
It may be mentioned here that Mr. Wadiyar had met NHAI’s chief secretary in New Delhi recently and submitted a memorandum seeking early implementation of the project. He explained that the junction, located on the busy Bengaluru–Mysuru highway, witnesses heavy traffic movement and frequent congestion.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is sanctioning key infrastructure projects for Mysuru and Kodagu districts. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has extended significant support for highway projects. With the cooperation of NHAI officials, these projects are becoming a reality. On behalf of my constituency, I thank everyone involved,” Mr. Wadiyar said.
