The Pattamundai (Rural) Police Station has booked Pramod Behera of the locality below Sections 296 (obscene act), 75 (sexual harassment), 78 (stalking) and 108 (abetment of suicide) of the BNS and Sections 66-E and 67-A of the IT Act, the officer mentioned.
Mr. Behera was booked after the sufferer’s father lodged a written grievance on the police station on Saturday (August 9, 2025), naming him because the prime accused, Kendrapara SP Siddharth Kataria instructed reporters.
The father in his FIR has alleged that Behera, the ex-boyfriend of his daughter, was blackmailing her and threatening to make her intimate footage viral on social media.
The father additionally alleged that Mr. Behera compelled his daughter to kill herself. The girl’s charred physique was discovered on the staircase of the home.
Though she had approached the police six months in the past, her grievance was ignored by the then ASI of Pattamundai (Rural) Police Station Saliendra Mohan Palei. The ASI has been transferred from the police station to pave the best way for a clear investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, Mr. Behera’s mom and sister have admitted that he had a relationship with the lady, however he has not blackmailed her or made any image or video viral, as alleged by the sufferer’s father. They as a substitute alleged that the lady’s father had set his daughter on fireplace in a case of honour killing.
Mr. Behera’s mom claimed that her son is harmless and that he has been deliberately dragged into this case.
