Privatisation of medical schools: Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council adjourned amid YSRCP protests

The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council on Friday (September 19, 2025) witnessed uproar, as YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) members staged loud protests demanding an adjournment movement to debate the State Government’s determination to privatise medical schools underneath the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mannequin.

Council Chairman Okay. Moshen Raju repeatedly urged the protesting members to keep up order, assuring them that their demand could be positioned earlier than the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) assembly and that the federal government would take a choice. However, with sloganeering persevering with unabated, the Chairman adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

Soon after the day’s proceedings started, the chairman of the Legislative Council introduced that the adjournment movement moved by YSR Congress Party members Monditoka Arun Kumar, Kumbha Ravi Babu and C. Subramanyam was being rejected. This triggered an uproar, with YSRCP members storming into protest mode, elevating slogans in opposition to the Telugu Desam Party-led (TDP) coalition authorities’s determination to privatise medical schools underneath PPP mannequin. With no let-up within the din, the chairman adjourned the Council proceedings for 10 minutes.
