The Supreme Court directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to incorporate Aadhaar as a legitimate proof for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) train of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. The high courtroom, nevertheless, made it clear that Aadhaar was not a proof of citizenship and the ECI is entitled to confirm if the paperwork are real.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday (September 9, 2025) directed Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer to subject directions for accepting Aadhaar among the many paperwork that may be submitted throughout the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls within the State, a day after the Supreme Court order to this impact.

Supreme Court says Aadhar must be handled as legitimate proof for SIR
