Seven held for killing farmer in Ranipet over temple dispute

Seven individuals have been arrested by Kalavai police in Ranipet on Saturday in reference to the homicide of a 60-year-old farmer over conducting common puja at a not too long ago consecrated temple within the space.

Police stated the arrested individuals have been recognized as Ok. Gnanamani (42), S. Baskar (38), B. Ravindran (20), G. Manirajan (20), V. Dinakaran (18), N. Selvamani (37) and S. Valarmathi (36). They are residents of Vembi village that comes beneath Kalavai panchayat union close to Arcot city in Ranipet district.

Initial inquiry revealed that the sufferer S. Radhakrishnan, a farmer in Vembi village, went to attend a particular puja on the newly constructed temple within the village. He was accompanied by his son R. Raja and daughter in-law R. Rekha and family members.

During the puja on the temple, police stated that a number of devotees obtained into an altercation with Raja over the conduct of rituals on the temple. The suspects joined the devotees in opposition to Raja and his family members within the temple. Both teams exchanged blows in opposition to one another.

Farmer Radhakrishnan was badly injured within the incident. He was rushed to Government Taluk Hospital in Kalavai city the place docs stated he was introduced useless. A case was registered. Arrested individuals have been lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is underway.
