According to Vellori’s grand daughter Shakira Khanum, who was current on the event, Vellori was the founding father of the Muslim Boys orphanage when it was first established on Kantharaj Urs Road in Mysuru in 1927.
Born as Mohammed Abdul Wahid Khan in 1883 in Ganjam close to Srirangapatna, he acquired the title Muslim Vellori as his childhood days had been spent in an Islamic seminary in Vellore.
Ms. Khanum, who’s a professor of Hindi at Al Ameen College in Bengaluru, compiled the data for a e-book on the lifetime of Muslim Vellori. While Abdul Hameed wrote the e-book in Urdu, the Kannada model was authored by Chand Pasha and the English model was translated by Daniya Ayath Khan, stated Ms. Khanum.
While the English model of the e-book was launched by famous journalist P. Sainath on October 13, 2025, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had launched the Kannada model of the e-book in Bengaluru on October 25. The Urdu model of the e-book on Vellori’s life historical past was launched at a perform in Mysuru on Sunday.
Muslim Vellori handed away on October 30, 1977 and the final Sunday of October is noticed because the founder’s day within the Muslim Boys Orphanage, stated Ms. Khanum.
