‘Won’t spare anybody’: Punjab CM Mann on Majithia’s arrest in ‘drug cash’ laundering case

Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday reacted to Shiromani Akali Dal chief Bikram Singh Majithia’s arrest, saying his authorities is not going to spare anybody concerned within the drug commerce.

Mann’s response comes a day after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Bikram Singh Majithia was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday for allegedly laundering greater than 540 crore of “drug money”.

The senior SAD chief was despatched to a seven-day vigilance remand on Thursday.

Mann, whereas addressing reporters in Chandigarh, mentioned his authorities has been operating an anti-drugs drive marketing campaign within the state, which has now become a public motion, information company PTI reported.

He additionally took on opposition events for condemning the vigilance motion towards Majithia.

“No matter how politically strong or influential one may be, I will not have mercy in the matter of drugs. I am accountable to Punjabis and I am indebted to them,” Bhagwant Mann mentioned.

Referring to the case, Mann mentioned that the vigilance division adopted due process and made a correct case.

“Those who have so far been sent to jail in connection with drugs, 80-90 per cent of them could not secure bail”, the CM mentioned.

Mann additionally warned those that are on the flawed aspect of the regulation and ‘have the misunderstanding’ that they can’t be caught, saying motion can even be taken towards them.

Reacting to the opposition events condemning the motion towards Majithia, he mentioned these are the identical leaders who used to query the federal government for not taking motion towards huge smugglers.

“It shows that it is the AAP versus all. Those responsible for destroying (the future of) youngsters will face the strictest punishment. Be it anyone. Even if they want to harm me,” Mann mentioned.
