Election Commission of India has announced schedule for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 16 States — including Telangana — and three Union Territories under Phase III, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The number of electors in Telangana as on May 12, 2026, was 3,39,20,705

BLOs to visit from June 25, 2026

In Telangana, the house-to-house enumeration exercise by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be conducted from June 25 to July 24, 2026. The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, 2026 and the final electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026.

According to the schedule released by the Chief Electoral Officer Telangana, the revision process will begin with preparation, training and printing works from June 15 to June 24, 2026.

What will BLOs do during house-to-house visits?

As part of the intensive revision, BLOs will visit every household to distribute partially pre-filled Enumeration Forms in duplicate to all existing electors and assist them in filling up the details. Officials said BLOs would make at least three visits in cases where houses are found locked or closed.

Option to download Enumerations Forms

The Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will publicise the schedule of BLO visits in advance across localities to ensure greater public participation. Electors will also have the option to download the Enumeration Forms and submit them online.

After collecting the completed forms, BLOs will issue acknowledgements to voters, while online submissions will also be verified during house visits.

Officials have requested electors to furnish details regarding their names or the names of their parents, grandfather or grandmother appearing in the electoral rolls of the previous Special Intensive Revision conducted in 2002. BLOs will assist voters in completing these details.

Details in draft electoral rolls

The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, 2026, and will include the names of all electors who submitted duly filled Enumeration Forms either physically or online during the house-to-house verification period.

Claims & objections

The period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from July 31 to August 30, 2026. During this phase, eligible citizens can apply for inclusion of names through Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration form. Electors can also seek correction or updating of entries, shifting of residence within or outside the constituency, replacement of EPIC cards and marking of Persons with Disabilities status through Form 8.

For voters from outside Telangana

For voters shifting from outside Telangana, submission of a declaration form along with Form 8 will be mandatory.

The Election Commission stated that inquiries would be initiated by EROs and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in cases where details furnished by electors are incomplete. Necessary supporting documents can be submitted during hearings.

Final electoral rolls on October 1

The notice phase, including issuance of notices, hearings, verification and disposal of claims and objections, will continue concurrently from July 31 to September 28, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026, after disposal of all claims and objections.

Appeals

The Commission also informed that electors aggrieved by decisions of the ERO may file an appeal before the District Magistrate under Section 24(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, followed by a second appeal to the Chief Electoral Officer under Section 24(b) and Rule 27 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
