Eight months later, his mentee Jatin Kumar Pandey claimed his maiden First Class five-for (5 for 35) on Ranji Trophy debut versus Tamil Nadu right here on Friday.
The 21-year-old was impressed to turn out to be a quick bowler by Ashish, as each hail from the identical tribal-dominated district of Lohardaga in Jharkhand.
“I noticed him and began enjoying cricket, and have become a quick bowler. He performed Ranji Trophy for ten years. He helped me lots,” Jatin stated.
Asked what excited him about quick bowling, Jatin, who has an extended run-up, stated: “I wish to run quick from that far, bowl quick, and scare the batter!”
He has performed quite a lot of tennis-ball cricket earlier than Ashish observed his abilities and inspired him to play leather-ball cricket. “I used to have an incredible arm velocity and bowl very quick with the tennis ball. So, he requested me why I don’t play with the leather-based ball. He stated that it’s my future.”
Jatin, who idolises Dale Steyn and watches quite a lot of his movies, bowls inswing naturally and is studying to bowl outswingers.
Asked if he felt nervous on his debut, he stated that he did, however drew confidence from the “high-quality follow” that they had in Bengal and Rajkot pre-season.
