In the absence of any wayside rest area for drivers, it is common to see trucks and other vehicles parked all along the Trasi-Maravanthe beach stretch of Kanyakumari-Panvel National Highway 66 thereby making driving dangerous on the stretch in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district. Had the authority constructed such a facility at Hosadu, about 2 km from Trasi beach and abutting the Karwar-Kundapura carriageway, the gravity of the April 29 accident where a tourist bus ferrying students rammed two trucks parked on the wayside killing three of its occupants, could have been lesser, felt K. Venkatesh Kini, an entrepreneur and social worker from nearby Bydnoor. It is a common sight to witness trucks and other vehicles parked on both the sides of 4-lane NH 66 on the beautiful Trasi-Maravanthe beach stretch in Udupi district.
