A 16-day pageant to wish for world peace and the therapeutic of humanity amid conflicts started in Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, on Tuesday (November 4, 2025).
Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, the king of Bhutan, and Trulku Jigme Choedra, the nation’s chief abbot, ceremonially launched the Global Peace Prayer Festival (GPPF) on the Changlimithang floor in Thimphu.
The Royal Government of Bhutan is organising the pageant.
One of the important thing occasions of the pageant is Jabzhi, a Vajrayana Buddhist ritual used for cleaning damaging karma and eradicating harmful forces. The Jabzhi, which began on Tuesday (November 4), will proceed until November 10.

“It is acceptable that Jabzhi is being held as an efficient counterweight, an impediment remover, to every part seen and unseen which will block the blessed energies radiating from the worldwide peace prayer,” a pageant spokesperson mentioned. The Jabzhi will probably be adopted by the Kalachakra empowerment, which gives a glimpse of Shambhala, a legendary paradise of peace and tranquillity.
Ahead of the graduation of the GPPF, Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, mentioned that King Wangchuk conceived the GPPF to be an occasion for peace on earth, coinciding with the seventieth beginning anniversary of Jigme Singye Wangchuk, the fourth King.
The fourth King abdicated his throne on the age of 51 and launched democracy in Bhutan, the final surviving Vajrayana kingdom on the planet.
The Prime Minister additionally mentioned the Government of India was supporting the GPPF. He thanked his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, for permitting sacred relics of the Buddha to be delivered to Thimphu for the pageant.
