Despite the Israel-enforced media blockade, photos of destruction from the Gaza Strip haven’t stopped rising over the previous two years, primarily as a result of Palestinians have taken it upon themselves to be the chroniclers of their ordeal. In the method, they’ve paid an enormous worth.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, as of October 22, 2025, no less than 198 Palestinian journalists, photographers, and video journalists have been killed in Israeli bombing within the Gaza Strip for the reason that violence started on October 7, 2023. Beyond these killed, a whole bunch of Palestinian media employees have been arrested or have been injured in Israeli assaults.

Missiles and bombs from Israeli jets usually are not the one problem photographers face in Gaza, the place discovering meals is as troublesome as getting electrical energy, wi-fi, and charging factors for telephones and cameras. Pursuing images in such a state of affairs requires superhuman effort and a fearless dedication to at least one’s work.

At the latest HIPA (Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award) ceremony in Dubai, photographer Ali Jadallah — who continues to stay in North Gaza — gained a prime prize. When the organisers reached out to him to share the information, his response was: “Thank you, however how can I be blissful?”

Jadallah shouldn’t be alone. There are dozens of photographers who stay within the Gaza Strip who proceed to file the human value of the struggle, the place peace is but to return regardless of a ceasefire.
