The Kremlin stated on Tuesday (July 15, 2025) that U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest statements, together with a menace of sanctions on patrons of Russian exports, are critical and require evaluation.

In a serious coverage shift underscoring his rising frustration with President Vladimir Putin, Mr. Trump on Monday introduced new deliveries of weapons to Ukraine and warned that patrons of Russian exports may face sanctions except Russia agrees to a peace deal on Ukraine.

Mr. Trump, who has stated he desires to be remembered as a peacemaker, later informed the BBC, referring to Mr. Putin: “I’m disappointed in him, but I’m not done with him.”

Asked about Mr. Trump’s latest statements, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated: “The U.S. president’s statements are very serious. Some of them are addressed personally to President Putin.”

“We certainly need time to analyse what was said in Washington. And if and when President Putin deems it necessary, he will definitely comment.”

Mr. Peskov continued, apparently referring to information of contemporary weapons deliveries to Kyiv: “Decisions which are being made in Washington, in NATO countries, and squarely in Brussels, are perceived by the Ukrainian side not as a signal for peace, but as a signal to continue the war.”

He reiterated that Russia was able to proceed direct negotiations with Ukraine and was nonetheless ready for a sign from Kyiv on when the following talks may happen.
