Powerful quake strikes off Japan, tsunami advisory issued

A robust quake rattled northern Japan on Sunday (November 9, 2025) night, adopted by a number of extra temblors, in response to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6.7, struck off the coast of Iwate prefecture at a depth of 10 kilometres beneath the ocean floor, at about 5 p.m. Japan time.
