A tsunami advisory was issued.
The earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6.7, struck off the coast of Iwate prefecture at a depth of 10 kilometres beneath the ocean floor, at about 5 p.m. Japan time.
There had been no rapid experiences of accidents or harm, or any experiences of abnormalities on the two nuclear energy vegetation within the space.
The company issued an advisory for a tsunami of as much as 1 metre alongside the northern coastal area. The advisory remained in place an hour after the preliminary quake.
Public broadcaster NHK warned folks to keep away from coastal areas due to the hazard of tsunami, and warned extra shaking might comply with within the space.
A tsunami of about 10 centimetres was detected at Ofunato metropolis in Iwate Prefecture and Ominato port, NHK mentioned. Bullet trains within the space had been delayed, in response to JR East railway operator. The quakes had prompted energy shortages, Kyodo News mentioned.
