Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday (April 12, 2026). She was 92.
The singer had been admitted on Saturday (April 11, 2026) evening with exhaustion and a chest infection. Hospital officials said the cause of death was multi-organ failure following a cardiac arrest.
She was cremated with full state honours on Monday (April 13, 2026) at the Shivaji Park Crematorium in Mumbai, where a large gathering of mourners came together to pay their final respects to the iconic voice that enthralled generations for more than eight decades.
Bhosle, who recorded more than 12,000 songs in over 20 Indian and foreign languages, is widely considered one of the most versatile voices in Indian music.
