“The Government of India ought to take Air India again from the Tata Group. They have run the airline into the bottom,” he wrote in a publish on X on Friday (August 1, 2025), calling the privatisation train a “catastrophe”.
He lamented the cancellations and delays by Air India “on the drop of a hat”, and claimed that these had been occurring with none explanations being supplied by the airline.
In a reference to appointees from Tata Group firms on the airline, he remarked that “pilots and crew inform me that individuals who develop tea in Tata Tea, make metal in Tata Steel, make vehicles in Tata Motors are working Air India” and labelled the airline as an entire administration mess.
Tata Group took over Air India in January 2022 after it gained the bid invited by the federal government for promoting its 100% stake within the erstwhile nationwide provider. The airline has been on the centre of public and regulatory scrutiny for the reason that June 12 crash in Ahmedabad that killed 260 folks, the deadliest crash within the nation in three a long time, and the primary involving a Boeing 787-8 plane.
