According to a press note, the campaign, launched during the observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), features a series of programmes aimed at creating awareness, fostering inclusivity, and celebrating the talents of persons with disabilities.
In addition to sports events for Jipmer employees and students with the differently abled, a drawing competition on the theme “Inclusive Society” was recently conducted for school children and staff. Prizes were presented to the outstanding differently abled performers.
Organisers also held an awareness rally on December 6, highlighting the salient features of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act. Cultural performances by PwDs and an exhibition of assistive devices were held concurrently.
The activities seek to educate medical and allied health students and promote a deeper understanding of disability rights, accessibility, and empowerment, Navin Kumar, Head of the Department of PMR, Jipmer, said.
Jipmer Director Vir Singh Negi and Saka Vinod Kumar, Medical Superintendent, are monitoring the month-long campaign, the press note said.
