50% of U.P. industries flout norms: report on Ganga air pollution

In its current report submitted to the National Green Tribunal, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) acknowledged that over 50% of the “operational” Grossly Polluting Industries (GPIs) situated throughout the districts in Uttar Pradesh weren’t in compliance with the government-stipulated air pollution norms.

In compliance with the order, the board then fashioned 50 groups and undertook a shock inspection of 1,370 GPIs, 36 sewage therapy crops (STPs) and eight effluent therapy crops (ETPs) within the State, as per the report submitted in relation to an ongoing case on Ganga air pollution.
