The flower show will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. More than 25,000 ornamental flower pots representing 35 varieties will be displayed, along with nearly four lakh cut flowers, including roses, chrysanthemums, carnations, gerberas, orchids, anthuriums, lilies and other exotic species.
A major attraction will be a grand floral replica of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, measuring about 50 ft in width, 16 ft in depth and 25 ft in height. Several elaborate floral installations depicting mythological, cultural and contemporary themes will also be showcased.
Special arrangements include floral portraits of erstwhile Mysuru kings and prominent historical personalities, depictions of Krishna and Radha on a swing, displays highlighting India’s sporting achievements, including the victories of women cricketers, and creative installations of birds, animals and cartoon characters to engage children.
An image of environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka will be created using flowers and millets, depicting a tree in recognition of her contribution to tree planting. Another highlight will be the Preamble, designed in the form of a book and decorated with flowers.
The entry and exit gates will be artistically decorated using flowers and eco-friendly materials. Classical instrumental music performances will be held during visiting hours, while cultural programmes at the Palace premises are scheduled from December 21 to 25 between 5 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. The palace will be illuminated every evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
On December 31, a police band performance will be held from 11 p.m. to midnight, followed by a silent, eco-friendly fireworks display to welcome the New Year.
In addition, a photo and video exhibition showcasing the history of Mysuru, Dasara celebrations and the Wadiyar dynasty will be organised within the palace premises. A special bomme (doll) exhibition featuring traditional themes will also be part of the event.
The annual flower show is expected to attract many tourists who usually plan their visits to Mysuru to spend Christmas holidays and celebrate the New Year. In the previous years, the palace attracted a large number of tourists during the flower show, which has become a popular year-end event.
